Michael Souza is a professional journalist. As editor and reporter for The Narragansett Times, he has covered the commercial fishing industry, with a particular interest on how government regulations and enforcement are on the verge of forcing small, private fishermen out of business. Narragansett is home to the port of Galilee/Point Judith, one of the most notable fishing towns on the eastern seaboard. He has also covered news and regulations and their impact not only on Rhode Island but on the entire Northeast.
Michael has been honored by the Suburban Newspapers of America for the Best Feature Series in 2007. The SNA has a membership of 2,400 newspapers in the United States and Canada.
